What can I expect during the exam?
- The CT Heart Scan is non-invasive and requires no needles, no cutting and no sedation. Most people will not change into a patient gown, although loose fitting clothing is recommended. You will be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds.
- Electrodes, similar to those used during an EKG, will be placed on your chest.
- Watches or jewelry, except necklaces, may be worn.

How does this procedure differ from a coronary angiography scan?
- A coronary angiography scan also uses CT technology. However, it is a diagnostic exam for individuals already diagnosed with heart disease. A physician's order is required. Since it is a diagnostic exam, most insurance plans cover the cost which can be significantly more than that of a CT heart scan/cardiac scoring.
